Annoying but exciting appointment, and prediction photo!

I had my joint appointment with my surgeon and orthodontist yesterday..........dun..dun...dunnnn..
I'm so annoyed!! and disapointed, and upset and cross
well, I have been hoping for months and months to get my surgery in July, right after my art course ends, as my teeth are already surgery ready and I want to be recovered as soon as possible because I'm planning an extended trip to Australia to live with my cousin and work there. Anyway, I want to go to Australia as sooon as I'm well enough and I was hoping to be able to go at the end of this year! But, my surgeon said he wouldn't have any spaces until september......:( nooo and also, they said I wouldn't be able to travel to Australia for at least 6 months after the surgery, meaning I could only go to Australia in April next year and I would have half the time there than I thought.. He did say that if there was a cancelation they might be able to fit me in sooner, so I'm hoping and praying that there will be, and that I can have surgery in July! It would make such a massive difference to meee! I've not even planned anything for July and August so I feel like they'd just be wasted months, but I think if I do have to have surgery in September I'd just work for those months and try and raise money for going to Australia:)
The appointment was exciting at the same time though, they were discussing how they were going to move my jaws and the close minute detail that they looked at my face with really impressed me! They scrutinized every millimetre so carefully.... Anyway, they ended up saying that they'd move my top jaw about 2 millimetres forward and about 2 millemetres upwards, (I didn't realise they were planning on doing this! They said this would be because moving my jaw forward would mean more of my gum would show when I smiled, and so this movement would be to compensate for that. I did stress that I like how much gum shows at the moment though, and they said that it would stay the same and wouldn't change. Although my surgeon said that he thought my smile was too gummy and he thought my top jaw should be moved upwards by 3mm! I said I didn't agree with that though and my orthodontist didn't agree either), and my bottom jaw is going to be moved back by 6 millimetres! I can't believe how much that is!!
I asked my surgeon if he was planning to use that stitch on my nose and he said that he always uses it unless the person has a really skinny nose. So I'm really pleased about that!:)
They also gave me the prediction photo, It's amazing!!! I can't stop looking at it. It's so wierd though because I kind of feel like I look like that already, and when I realise I actually don't its a shock! So I think after the surgery I might just feel more like myself. My orthodontist said she thought I'd end up looking nicer than the photo though so thats incredible I can't imajine how it could be better!!
Here is a picture of me today (I'm sorry if it scares you I look vile with no makeup and bad hair but oh well!)

Heres the prediction photo! I hope you are all getting on really well and that you are happy:)

Orthodontist appointment

I had an orthodontist appointment yesterday, it was a really exciting appointment!
Firstly, she showed me the molds she'd taken last time I'd had an appointment, and she put them together so that they fitted together in the correct way, so I could have more of an idea what my teeth will look like after the operation. It was so wierd to see my teeth in that position, it looked like they were someone elses teeth! I can't believe my teeth will eventually look like that it's so hard to imajine...
Then she took one of my brackets off because she said it was interfering with my bite with how it was placed, so she put it back on slightly differently. It's so crazy that the minute differences in the placement changes how your teeth move so much! They're so clever that they can work out how to move them and everything.
Then she did something a bit scary/dramatic, she said she needed to 'reshape' my bottom teeth a bit so that my molds would fit together a little bit better, I got a bit panicked by that thinking she was going to chizzle my teeth down or something! but she just got this thing that looked a bit like a nail file and scraped it between my teeth. I wasn't very nice but it wasn't painful it just felt really gritty! and also, while she was doing it I could see dust blowing out into the air!! I think that was tooth dust!! It made me realise how much you have to trust your orthodontist though, I was scared she might do it too much and that I'd end up with little pegs for teeth. but actually you can't really see much of a difference, the gaps that she made are soo tiny.
She also did new photos, and measured all of my face and I got another x-ray done. My next appointment is in March, and it's a joint appointment with my surgeon. That appointment is when I'm going to get my surgery date! yayyy so exciting
here are some new-ish photos! I dyed my hair dark woooo

Current teeth update

I didn't know what those little gold hooks were on my braces, so I asked my orthodontist and she said they are going to be for putting elastic bands on later!:S ooh errr

nosey noses

Ok! I have a question for post surgery people:) How many of you had an 'alar stitch'? Did you find that it made your nose widen less after the surgery? Would you recomend it? This is one of my main worries, because my nose is already quite wide and I don't want to end up with a massive nose..haa
I think I'm going to ask my surgeon if he was planning on using one next time I see him:) Originally he said the changes to my nose would only be positive though, so I don't know if that means he was thinking of using the stitch thing, or maybe he just thinks that wide noses are good I don't know...or maybe he was just being optimistic.. :S The last time I saw my surgeon was in January (I think..) so thats why I haven't asked him about this yet!!

surgery is creeping closer

Hellooo! I'm very excited. Everthing is moving along and the surgery feels really real now, rather than something just off in the far distant future.
I had an orthodontist appointment a couple of weeks ago, and my orthodontist changed my wires again. I now have my final wires on, so these are the wires I'll have when I'm having my surgery! She also took new molds of my teeth because she said that my teeth probably aren't going to move any more now:) (I'm glad about that because I really don't think my bite could be any more under than it is already..it's horrible)
I will probably have my surgery in July of 2012. My orthodontist said I'd probably be ready before that, but I can't have it sooner because I have to wait until my art course is finished. July feels really soon though. It's wierd it kind of feels soon but also too far away at the same time!
heres a horrible picture where my jaw looks like it's jutting out into the next room. I really hope that I don't often look this bad! It really is the photos that you don't know are being taken that end up being the most repulsive..
aaaaaaaaahhh!! so horrid
here are some nice christmassy photos to balance out that hideous one:)
Hope everyone has had a wonderful christmas, and that new year is lots of fun!

Wisdom teeth

Hi everyone!:) I had my wisdom teeth operation on Monday and it is now wednesday, I am sooo swollen! I didn't expect that really, I thought it would only be a little bit but I look like an actual hamster!
The actual operation wasn't that bad, I was is A LOT of pain when I woke up though mainly because I had a really really really bad headache/migraine, and a sore throat and ear ache and jaw ache and neck ache!! pretty much my entire head was just throbbing:( it was really horrible but then they gave me codiene and I felt way way better really fast after that:)
Then on Monday night I tried to sleep lying on my back because I thought it wouldn't be a good idea to squidge my swollen cheeks by sleeping on them but that was so uncomfy and I ended up just sleeping on my side anyway. Then I woke up at pretty much hourly intervals with head/neck/jaw pain and a horrible sore throat (I think that was because they had to put a draining tube thing in my throat I'm not sure) and found it really hard to go back to sleep because I was in loads of pain:( and then last night was even worseee I just felt dreadful and couldn't sleep at all, and today my face is SO massive, I look quite funny actually like a little gerbil or something but my face hurts so much! I really wanted to go look round the degree courses at my uni today with my friend but I've had to stay at home because I feel really headachy and soo tired. I really wanted to go! but oh wellll:)
I'm sorry if I sound like I'm moaning, because everyone else seemed to find the wisdom tooth operation a stressless breeze but for me it was a lot worse than I expected. It is good in a way though because I do feel like I've had a taste of what the actual jaw surgery will be like. Also I have stitches!! I only noticed them yesterday, they didn't actually tell me they'd put them in which was wierd, but I could sort of feel them so I looked in the mirror and theres big black bits of string sticking up! I hope they will just disolve away, I'm sure they'd be the disolvable kind if they didn't even tell me they were there? I hope so!!
Also I've just constantly been taking paracetamol and codiene! codiene is so good it helps so much I love it
This is me on Tuesday, the day after the operation.
This is me today! I'm way more swollen today, I really hope it starts to go down soon..

Tomorrow!

Tomorrow I'm having my wisdom teeth operation!! I'm feeling a bit nervous now, I was fine before because I was just relieved it was finally happening but now I'm feeling scared because it's so close..
Just in case you don't know, I'm having my wisdom teeth out because the space where they were is where they do the jaw surgery operation! and I have to have it now so that the bone can strengthen before I have jaw surgery.
I've never had general anesthetic before..eeek but I'm sure everything will be fine! I'll do a post tomorrow or in the next couple of days to say what it was like:)
