Day after surgery

Here's Rosa's Dad, Tom, to update on her progress after her surgery. Yesterday she was still out of it from the anaesthetic - and not too swollen yet.  Today was a tough one - more swelling; tired after a bit of a difficult night in the hospital - and she's now got bands on so she can't talk and is a bit panicky about her breathing.  The surgeon is very pleased about how the operation went, and her profile is quite changed.  I'm sure tomorrow will be better.

  2. Not being able to talk feels so frustrating, but the difficulty in breathing is so real. Relaxing and taking slow deep breaths through the nose help to relieve the anxiety. The next week will be the worst part. I remember feeling so helpless that first week. You are a great dad to support her!! It gets better, so much better!! I promise that in a couple of weeks Rosa will be a new woman. Hang in there sweet girl, there is a light at the end of the road, it shines so bright, and awaits you!!!

  8. I had double jaw surgery 5 weeks ago and remember the first 2 days very well...I didn't feel able to breathe properly at first either and was panicky too! It does get better - I agree with Tresa- slow deep breaths through the nose help calm things. Congrats on being on the other side! Thanks for the update!
